Since the time of the Phoenicians, fish and salt have always been the protagonists of the Torrevieja municipality. The Romans discovered how to conserve fish in salt and considered it like a delicatessen worthy of the emperor himself and for this reason they transported it in their ships to the Roman Empire. Up to date, this technique is maintained and that is what this route consists of: a Gastro Cultural route that will transport us to Roman times in an idyllic setting, at the best moment of the day, sunset.

First, we will access to the Salt Industry and learn not only about the salt extraction procedure from ancient times to the present day, but also about the gastronomic uses of the salt that is produced in Torrevieja. After the guide's introduction and explanation, we will go up to the mountain of salt where a master craftsman will wait for us who will explain the salting process, its traditional technique and current processing. Next, we will go to the tasting of the salted oiled fish from Torrevieja, with other local products such as extra virgin olive oil in its Arbequina variant and the exclusive white wine from  La Mata Natural Park, limited production and bottled only for Tours Costa Blanca.
